What View? Uru is a game that can be played either from the first person perspective or from third person view. Cyan recommend you get used to the third person camera angles in order to enjoy the full gaming effect. I'm not keen on constantly looking at my Avatar's butt, so far prefer to opt for the first person perspective. There are a few places where this doesn't work but in the main it offers a nicer, less restricted view. Creating yourself When you have installed your copy of URU you will then need to create your avatar [your in-game character or self-image]. Obviously you can be represented by either gender but also the range of facial features and clothes you can choose is very varied. Exploring Uru Uru is a real-time 3D gaming environment. This means that time inside the game is the same as in reality...and 3D is obvious. In other words, Cyan have created an environment that is the closest they can create to reality - only in a much more fun environment. There are lots of puzzles to solve and a number of Ages to explore with more fun to follow in the shape of official expansion packs. Live Ages - Now a thing of the Past... The game booklet outlines information about meeting friends, inhabiting Neighborhood areas of D'ni and other Ages, even hinting at creating your own Ages. Unfortunately this ambitious plan didn't get further than the Beta stage. Put simply, a lot of people subscribed to the boxed game but not enough people signed up for the On-Line experience, so it had to be scrapped. Loads of game coding had already been completed and the official word is that some of this will be made available in the afore-mentioned expansion packs. Your Own Personal Age [Relto] That's right - You are provided with an actual physical cyberspace Age of your own. It starts off looking like a rather barren MYST Island, but through your travels and adventures you will acquire a lot of in-game artefacts and linking books to help you improve the look and feel of your surroundings. Remember to check out the many Links in My Resource Library in order to track down all the latest news on URU as it happens. |
